At Grefuga Studios, AI is a tool that helps our people do their best work. It is not a replacement for them. This policy explains where we use AI, from our back office to what you see on screen, and where people stay in charge. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Our view on AI
We believe AI is one of the most important creations in human history in a very long time. We are heavily invested in how AI continues to take shape, and we are building products that do our part in its use.
- We helped publish Bots Mean Business, a book about the use of AI and automation.
- We are developing Academia Engine, a tool that helps educators use AI in education.
For all that, we believe AI is a tool. It is not a replacement for people. At Grefuga Studios, AI helps with our internal processes, our grammar, the integrity of our software and more, while people make the decisions.
Software
We use AI in our software review process, for optimization passes and for some prototyping. Our software is designed, mapped out and created by the teams at Grefuga Studios.
Our team has decades of experience in software development, and we put every bit of it into what we make. Used strategically, AI lets us do the work of many while we keep full creative and intellectual control over the result.
Art
AI plays a very limited role in our art.
We build our games in the Unity game engine and take full advantage of the Unity Asset Store, with assets from thousands of artists. One of our founders leads internal art production and direction. He oversees the assets we use and the creation of specialized assets for each project.
AI may play a larger part in our asset production one day. For now, the talented creative community gives us plenty of ways to obtain and create the art we need.
Articles
Articles from Grefuga Studios are written by people. We use AI to check grammar, keep spelling mistakes to a minimum, smooth the academic flow of our sentences and, we hope, make run-on sentences a thing of the past.
A person oversees every step of that process. That keeps the human element in our writing, and it keeps out the habits of AI writing, such as leaning too hard on words like "hence" and "therefore" or scattering em dashes through the text.
Our commitment
We want to be transparent about our use of AI, from our back office to what you see on screen. If the way we use AI changes in a meaningful way, we will update this policy.
With or without AI, our main goal stays the same: that you enjoy the products we make and have fun with them.
